I describe my work as vaguely surreal, bleakly erotic and darkly off-kilter, as if pulling back a curtain to reveal a parallel universe of sultry, beautiful people, trapped in some unknowable dream. there is an undercurrent of tension and menace, fuelled by looping repetitive themes: nails, tongues, vomiting black oil, crying blood, nosebleeds, levitation, kitchen knives, severed heads. the faces are unsmiling, icy, giving nothing away, letting the viewer do all the hard work.
